Long ago, the Malay-speaking fisherman who trawled the waters around our tropical paradise called it Pulau Piapi – or Mangrove Island – named for the forests that grew along the shores.
Piapi became Pipi and eventually Phi Phi, our home’s modern name. But the “api” in Piapi is also the Malay word for the fireflies that are attracted to the mangrove trees.
And so, inspired by the magic of nature and our island’s history, Api Restaurant, one of the popular Phi Phi restaurants, warmly welcomes you to enjoy authentic dishes from Asia and beyond, overlooking the white sands of Loh Ba Gao Bay.
Start the day here with fresh, organic breakfasts with hot and cold options from around the world. Linger over leisurely lunches, savour sunset drinks with live music, and get into the spirit with vibrant themed nights.
